This is the view from our hotel room. It's a nice hotel. It isn't in the picture but there was a line of laundry at the far back, there is a lot of laundry hanging from apartment buildings. Mom said they probably don't have clothes dryers.
We went for a walk yesterday. At first it was quiet outside because it was Sunday morning. But in the afternoon it was more crowded.
There are a lot of bikes here and mopeds. The traffic signals count down the seconds next to the lights. They use a branch with twigs to sweep the road and it looked like it worked even better than a broom.
This city's roads are not a grid like NY. They twist all over and people walk out in the middle of the road into traffic. But mom said Nanjing is much more orderly than the last city went to in China two years ago.
We met one of the other families in the afternoon. And guess what? They have a 9 year old too. She's a lot of fun. We went to McDonald's together. The ketchup is different. It's more thick and more tomatoey. The other girl and I played a ball game that she got in Beijing in the hallway last night. It was a lot of fun. She is from Texas.
